http://www.pearltrees.com/katietalbert2

Three cloud computing sites:
1. eCoach - Multi-device Course Authoring Tools - Allow teachers who already have lessons created and want to share the information through the cloud. http://www.ecoach.com.au/

2.  MyTutorWeb - Online Tutoring - Allows for individuals to find a personal tutor and get tutoring online and all the tutors have been personally interviewed and received top grades themselves.  There are over 60 subjects available. https://www.mytutorweb.co.uk/

3.  Quizalize- Engaging Assessments - Allows for the assessments of students to identify the strengths, weaknesses and learning gaps of individual students and give one-on-one help in the classroom. Then quizzes can be chosen to track student progress. https://www.quizalize.com/

I've learned a lot about the cloud.  I knew my kids used Chromebooks at school.  After reading The Horizon Report I realize that not only are children getting access to technology but the schools are saving money with the only limitation being that individuals need internet access(New Medium Consortium, 2011).  I actually found out from my daughter the other day that she doesn't have any books because all of her books are in the cloud! Amazing.  I've seen word clouds before but never quite knew that the size and colors of the words were indicative of it's use (Friedman, 2007).  I also didn't know the difference between tags, folksomies, and clouds.  It's very interesting the ways we as internet uses can get information and share information.  The Technacular website is wonderful because it gives so many learning and using options for tags and tag clouds.  Also, I did not know that a folksonomy is a tag and that there are so many different kinds of tags.  I like that there are so many ways to share information.

  1. Hi Kate,
Great Post, We learn something new every day. I really like the MyTutorWeb; where we can find personal tutor. However, I personally use YouTube an a first option to learn about something. In terms of ebooks, I believe that ebooks have many advantages. One of these advantages is that your reading materials [books] can be reach from anywhere at anytime. In addition, we do not have to carry heavy book anymore. Also, ebooks can be interactive, which means that they can contain audio, video and animations. Finally, students can search about certain information in ebook very easy by using search feature. By the way, I saw in your Pearltrees account that you are interested in Yoga. I would like to share an amazing Yoga application named "Yoga with Janet Stone"; you can find it in Apple's apps store. It is for free just these days, so hurry up. The regular price is 6$.
    Thank you,
    Abdulaziz,

  2. It is interesting that you learn a lot from cloud, I would like to learn from you how your kids can learn from Chromebooks. That is great when you introduced MyTutor web, I would like to learn from this side to identify Tutor for some of my classes.
Quizalize is another web which can be helpful for assessments, which can identify the strengths, weaknesses and learning gaps which is the key world to identify the area of improvements.
I am really amazed like you that your daughter doesn't have any books due to the fact that the books placed in the cloud. Like you I heard about Clouds computing before , but I did not realized that it is important till I learn about it.
    Great Job Thanks
    Saleh

  3. Sharing created lessons through cloud computing sites is a great way of collaboration and learning from others who are in the journey of education.
Online tutoring, also, makes best tutoring accessible at home, saves the trip to find the best tutor, and saves the effort and time for transportation. I have some friends’ children who are tutored on Skype, but I think that MyTutorWeb offers better opportunities to find the best online tutors, especially, as you mentioned, that all the tutors are interviewed and the used to be among the top students.
I also chose Quizalize because of its ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the students in an enjoyable way. In Quizalize, you do more work without using papers.
My kids use Chrome books too at their schools. They taught me how to create Google class and I am using it now in my teaching. It is enjoyable to see the students logged in to do their homework and to share their comments.
I agree with you that learning about the clouds was very interesting. I made an Arabic word cloud and used it to identify nouns and verbs in Arabic. The students loved it.
